Job Description
Senior Associate – Professional Indemnity
London | Hybrid Working | 8+ PQE
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Associate specialising in Professional Indemnity to join an ambitious and growing specialist law firm in London.
With the firm entering an exciting period of growth, this is an opportunity to join an expanding team in a senior capacity, taking ownership of complex matters, developing key client relationships and playing an influential role in the future direction of the practice.
This is an environment where senior individuals have the opportunity to make a visible impact, with genuine scope for career progression and the chance to help shape a growing team.
The Role
You will handle a varied and often complex caseload of professional indemnity matters, acting for insurers and their insured clients in the defence of professional negligence claims.
Alongside managing your own files, you will have an opportunity to take a more strategic role within the team, supporting its continued development and contributing to its growth.
Responsibilities will include:
-
Managing complex professional indemnity claims from initial instruction through to resolution, maintaining oversight of strategy, risk and commercial outcomes.
-
Defending professional negligence claims, particularly those involving solicitors and accountants.
-
Providing strategic advice on liability, causation, quantum, litigation risk and settlement options.
-
Taking responsibility for all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, disclosure, expert evidence, trial preparation and settlement negotiations.
-
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with insurers, brokers, insured professionals and other key stakeholders.
-
Acting as a trusted adviser to clients, delivering commercially focused and pragmatic advice.
-
Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team, sharing technical knowledge and encouraging their development.
-
Contributing to business development initiatives, strengthening existing relationships and identifying opportunities to grow the practice.
-
Playing an active role in the continued development, profile and success of the wider team.
About You
-
A qualified solicitor with at least 8 years' PQE.
-
Extensive experience in professional indemnity litigation, ideally with a strong background in defending solicitors and/or accountants.
-
Confident handling complex and high-value professional negligence claims independently.
-
Strong technical knowledge of professional indemnity matters, with the ability to develop effective litigation strategies and provide commercially sound advice.
-
Experienced in managing client relationships and working closely with insurers and other stakeholders.
-
An interest in mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the development of a team.
-
Commercially aware, proactive and keen to play a role in the growth of a practice.
-
Knowledge of FCA regulations would be advantageous.
The Opportunity
This is a particularly exciting opportunity for someone who wants more than simply managing a caseload within an established structure.
The firm is in a genuine growth phase, offering the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, develop meaningful client relationships and play an important part in building the team.
For someone with longer-term ambitions, there is also exciting scope for progression. The firm offers a more entrepreneurial and collaborative environment than many larger practices, where progression is not dictated by layers of internal politics but by individual contribution, ability and ambition.
If you're an established Professional Indemnity lawyer looking for greater autonomy, influence and an exciting opportunity to progress your career, we'd be delighted to hear from you!
