Job Description

Associate – Professional Indemnity

London | Hybrid Working | 5+ PQE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate with a background in Professional Indemnity to join a growing and ambitious specialist law firm in London.

The firm is continuing to expand its practice and is looking to welcome an experienced solicitor who is keen to take ownership of their work, develop strong client relationships and play an active role in the continued growth of the team.

This is an opportunity to join a relationship-driven firm where individuals are given genuine responsibility and the autonomy to manage their own caseload.

The Role

You will work on a varied caseload of professional indemnity matters, acting for insurers and their insured clients in the defence of professional negligence claims.

Your work will include:

  • Managing professional indemnity claims from initial instruction through to resolution, taking ownership of files at every stage.

  • Defending professional negligence claims involving a range of professionals, particularly solicitors and accountants.

  • Advising on liability, causation, quantum and litigation strategy, including assessing prospects of success and potential exposure.

  • Managing the litigation process, including pleadings, disclosure, witness evidence, expert evidence and settlement negotiations.

  • Working closely with insurers, brokers and other stakeholders, developing trusted and effective working relationships.

  • Identifying opportunities to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

  • Contributing to the continued development and growth of the wider team.

About You

  • A qualified solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE.

  • Strong experience in professional indemnity litigation, ideally involving the defence of solicitors and/or accountants.

  • Confident managing your own caseload and running matters from inception through to conclusion.

  • Commercially minded, with the ability to assess risk and provide clear, pragmatic advice.

  • Comfortable building and maintaining relationships with clients, insurers and other professionals.

  • An understanding of FCA regulations would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

  • Someone who enjoys working collaboratively while also having the confidence and independence to take ownership of their work.

The Opportunity

Joining at an exciting stage of the firm's development, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a growing team and take an active role in shaping its future.

The firm offers a genuinely relationship-led environment, where individual contribution is recognised and career progression is driven by ability, ambition and the value you bring, rather than internal politics or rigid structures.

If you're looking for a role offering high-quality work, genuine autonomy and the opportunity to develop your career within an ambitious and growing firm, we'd love to hear from you!

Please contact Emma Edwards to discuss this opportunity further.
