An excellent opportunity has arisen for a paralegal in the leveraged finance department of a top US firm.

The Firm

The firm are top tier in the US and are ranked Band 1 in a number of practice areas in the London office. They have plans to double in size and part of that growth plan is doubling the intake of trainees. Historically their trainees have come purely from their paralegals, and they currently have no plans to change this - therefore your prospects for a quick progression to a trainee solicitor are excellent! 

The Department

The leveraged finance team do some of the best work in the city with some really interesting clients and on high profile deals. This is a new team for the firm and the partners have joined from Magic Circle and US firms so boast an excellent client base and quality of work. They are seeking an experienced finance paralegal as there is no trainee in the department, so you can look forward to taking on trainee level tasks. 

The department is diverse and are really friendly and approachable and it is a great environment to work in. You will be the only paralegal in the team, so lots of opportunity to do top quality work.

The Role

The paralegal role is varied and will include the usual paralegal duties as well as tasks more akin to a trainee. These may include:

  • Document management (pre and post completion)
  • Compiling transaction bibles (hard copy and E bibles)
  • Company secretarial support (Companies House Filings, drafting board minutes and written resolutions of directors and shareholders)
  • Managing CP Checklists
  • Assisting with signings
  • Legal research

The Requirements

Excellent academics are essential and ideally you will have completed the LPC/SQE (due to the likelihood of the training contract offer) with relevant electives. At least 12 months leveraged finance experience would be ideal and they are flexible to what type of firm this has been at (US, City or Regional). Relevant finance experience, such as acquisition finance or debt finance will also be considered. 

This is a permanent paralegal role and will have fantastic prospects for progression for the right paralegal.
